Commissioner Comments: I was disappointed that my motion to re-open the bid process for legal services failed, but I was heartened to see that there was more deliberation in our Board process.
Our community is obviously divided on a number of issues, but my hope is that as the term moves on, we can begin to find common ground on behalf of Ottawa County residents.
Legal Services Agreement: The Board voted 6 to 5 to approve Legal Services Agreement with Kallman Legal Group. I had made a previous motion to delay approval of contract in order to allow a two month period to re-open the bid process for Counsel and Litigation services, as that had not been done with the Kallman Group. That motion failed 5-6
I voted No on the contract to approve Kallman because I believe that there are highly competent options for both Counsel and Litigation services, and that we can and should do our best to locate and hire locally.
Post-Execution Ratification of Contracts: Following their removal from the Consent agenda, the board voted 11-0 to approve all contracts on the Post-Execution list, as shown below:
