Public Health Update: OC Health Dept. Director Lisa Stefanovsky gave the board a quick overview of the last week as related to Covid-19. Despite a few spikes the last couple of days, Caseloads have genrally been holding steady over the last few weeks, and average 17 cases per day. The overall age of cases has been creeping up, with average age rising from 37 years old to 41 years old. 19.4% of cases reported in the last two weeks have been under years of age. The department has been working with area school districts and area private schools on school reopeing plans. Testing volumes and positivity rate has been holding steady over the last few weeks. Over the last weeks, Ottawa County has tested over 750 average on a daily basis. Additionally, Ottawa County is working to make sure seasonal agricultural workers in Ottawa County are getting properly tested and quarantined, in necessary.
Tax Dollar Usage and Distribution Report Presentation: Ian Rycenga, Administrative Intern, gave this year’s Tax Dollar Usage and Distribution Report Presentation. As shown above, Ottawa County residents benefit from their County Tax dollars in a variety of ways. and differ in how they perceive them. As always, please reach out with any concerns abouts Ottawa County services, and they ways in which you feel that may or may not be of benefit to you, your family and your community.
Public Hearing on AEDs for the Sheriff’s office: OC Sheriff Steve Kempker spoke about the department’s intention to use the 2020 Edward Byrne Memorial JAG funds to purchase 28 new Automated External Defibrilators (AEDs). Our current stock of 94 AEDs are quickly moving out of service and need to be replaced within the next few years. The current cost of each AED if $1,400. The Board will have this as an agenda item to approve on next Business Agenda.
Talent and Recruitment Committee: The Board approved a number of individuals for spots on our volunteers boards and commissions. New members include Rick Martinez to Officer’s Compensation Committee, Michael Sandoval to OC Economic Development Corporation/Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, Beth Larson to Community Mental Health and Lukas Hill to the Parks and Recreation Commission.
