Land & Water Conservation Fund Grant Application For UMAC: The Board voted to approve the Land and Water Conservation Fund program application for funding assistance for Upper Macatawa Natural Area - Greenway Trailhead project.
Contract for MDNR Support of Bass River Trail Segment: The Board voted to approve the Cooperative Agreement with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for funding assistance in the amount of $715,000 for the development of the Idema Explorers Trail Bass River Segment Phase 1.
2024 Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant Application: The Board voted to approve the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund (MN RTF) program application for funding assistance to construct the Eastmanville Connector Segment of the Grand River Greenway Idema Explorers Trail.
Republic Services Contract: The Board voted to approve a contract with Republic Services.
Resolution to Authorize "Qualifying Statements" for Bonding Purposes: The Board voted to approve the Resolution to authorize certification of a "Qualifying Statement" for bonding purposes.
Veterans Affairs Department Personnel Request: The Board voted unanimously to approve a proposal to add one, 1.0 FTE full-time, benefited Administrative Assistant position at universal paygrade 7 for a total cost of $97,211.
Although it is quite early in the process to be adding an Administrative Assistant, I do feel that it is important to be able to get this department stood up and ready to carry out its service mission to Ottawa County Veterans and their families.
FY2024 Budget Adjustments: The Board voted to approve the FY2024 budget adjustments per the above schedule.
Beach Water Monitoring Grant: The Board voted to approve a contract with The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) for beach water monitoring to secure grant funding from EGLE for our beach monitoring program. Signing will ensure County is reimbursed for Beach monitoring and sampling expenses.
Scrap Tire Clean-up Grant Agreement from EGLE: The Board voted to approve and sign the scrap tire clean-up grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) to collect/recycle scrap tires collected at 4 Environmental Sustainability Centers and township events
Appointment of Interim County Administrator: The Board voted to appoint Jon Anderson as Interim County Administrator.
I voted for Karen Karasinski as Interim because I believe she would have offered a great perspective and knowledge set to help us carry out our duties as a Board. Having said that, I wish Mr. Anderson the best as he navigates the duties of Interim Administrator in the coming months.
