Update from Public Health: in Ottawa County, we continue to see community spread of Covid-19, and a sustained nember of cases, Hospitalizations and deaths compared to the spring and summer of 2020. Case rates have declined throught he end of 2020, but show a recent plateau and possible rise in early 2021. Case positivity has stabilized around 10%. Inpatient bed occupancy and ICU bed occupancy have declined, with the proviso that the Holidays may still be impacting case rates and positivity. Vaccination began on December 18. Phase 1A and 1B are in process and over 8900 doses have been administered in Ottawa County.
Post-Execution Ratification of Contracts under Section IV(D)(2) of the Ottawa County Contracting Authorization and Form Policy: The Board voted 10-1 to ratify all pending contracts on the post-execution ratification list as authorized under Section IV(D)(2) of the Ottawa County Contracting Authorization and Form Policy that was adopted on April 14, 2020.
I voted no for the simple reason that we had no information about the contracts we were ratifying except for the line item as shown above. It is my hope that as we continue working through the process of pre-approval and post-approval ratification of contracts, that we will have more information regarding the individual contracts we are ratifying.

You can see a video on DEI’s work this past year here, and an update video here. The Sentinel has a nice piece on DEI’s work here: “Afrik highlighted three of the DEI office’s core operational goals — implementing a DEI strategic framework to allow Ottawa County to internally throughout its own departments and programs, the creation of a racial equity toolkit to help remove implicit biases from decision-making processes to allow equal opportunities to all Ottawa County residents and finally, work with local municipalities and organizations to assist them in implementing DEI strategies.”
