2025 Board Rules for the Ottawa County Board of Commissioners: The Board voted to approve the 2025 Board rules with changes made at the January 7 meeting. I voted yes as I believe the changes made to the draft version are very positive asnd were needed. I am also pleased that we were able to change our invocation policy overall to one where Invocation will be Commissioner only led. I believe this is the simplest process available and one which ensures that Commissioners, as representives of County residents, will have the responsiblity to maintain Invocation for the Board as whole. I was also pleased that we have returned to the practice of having all Commisisoners on all Standing Committees. I believe that this will ensure that all Commissioners have an equal voice in the committee process.

I voted yes on Commisioner Miedema’s motion to have Board and Commision assignments subject to board approval. This motion did fail 5-6.
